An extremely popular variety thanks to its excellent conversion options
Their breeding was widely extended in 1960, since when they have become widely eaten all over the world. Broiler chickens can be either white, with pale flesh and skin, or yellow, with golden skin and darker flesh. At the Vall Companys Group we breed both varieties, and are one of the leading producers of yellow broiler chickens in Spain. In both cases, the chickens are raised on farms with a high level of biosafety, resulting in an optimal environment that is adapted to the animal’s needs and a grain-based diet suited to their age using in-house developed feed. Due to their constitution, broiler chickens have very prominent breasts and thighs, resulting in very tender meat with a mild, pleasant flavour.
The traditional chicken
Bred from heritage breeds that have not been crossed, the slow growth chicken is raised for around 60 days.
By growing more slowly, these hens better absorb the nutrients in their diet, resulting in tastier, heartier and juicier meat.
At the Vall Companys Group, slow growth chickens are raised in specially selected farms with a lower density and conditioned surroundings, and fed on 100% plant-based feed developed in-house with a high proportion of grain.
The free range chicken
The free-range chicken is a unique variety raised for a longer time, more than 90 days, on special farms with maximum freedom of movement and access to outdoor fields. These animals combine a special diet based on our own natural feed and the intake of grasses, insects and other natural resources from the threshing floor. The result is a much firmer and more intensely flavoured meat in the form of larger, heavier chickens that have a very high culinary value.
